What's Going On With The Train In Solo: A Star Wars Story
While the inhabitants of the Star Wars universe primarily rely on spacecraft and speeders for getting around, there are some transportation options available in a galaxy far, far away that are the same as what we have on good ol' Earth, trains being one of them. Just a few days ago, we saw a particularly large train in the Solo: A Star Wars Story Super Bowl TV spot gliding across magnetic rails in a snowy, mountainous environment. It was one of the preview's many blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments, but it turns out that this train will play an important part in Solo: A Star Wars Story, as the young Han Solo will have to steal something from it.
Solo: A Star Wars Story has been described numerous times as a "heist film," and one of the thefts in the movie, if not the main one, will take place aboard this roller coaster-like train, which is called The Conveyex. While it hasn't been revealed yet what exactly Han will have to take from The Conveyex, the reason he's taking part in this heist is so he can prove he has the right stuff to make it in the seedy underworld. Just working off this brief look at this Solo moment, it's clear that this is not going to be an easy job. Because even if Han, Chewbacca and whoever else is helping them out manage to get into the train as it's moving over that landscape, you can bet that once inside, they'll have to deal with a lot of security protecting the valuable cargo. However, if Han pulls off this heist successfully, then he'll be surely impress a lot of his fellow criminals, including Woody Harrleson's character, Tobias Beckett.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy also talked a little bit about how Alden Ehrenreich's Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story differs from the one we meet in the Mos Eisley Cantina during A New Hope, saying to EW:
He might be a little more immature, he may be a little less experienced, and he may hone his cynicism over time, but he's very wary. He needs to gain the respect of the people he interacts with, even if they're the lowest of the low.
Even though Harrison Ford's Han Solo is no longer with us, as he was killed by his son during The Force Awakens, Solo: A Star Wars Story will turn back the clock and shed a lot of light on the smuggler's pre-Rebellion life, like how he met Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. While learning these details may help Star Wars fans appreciate Han Solo even more, this movie still needs to deliver on action, and this train heist sounds like it will provide quite a bit of thrilling entertainment.
